WINE DESCRIPTION
2024 stands as one of the most exciting vintages in Clare Valley for decades. Abundant winter rainfall recharged the deep granite soils. The spring was mild and frost-free, while the summer brought a marked diurnal temperature variation. Months of dry, sunny weather allowed the old-vine Shiraz grapes to ripen slowly.Hand-harvested at the end of March with perfectly balanced phenolic ripeness, the small, thick-skinned berries are concentrated with rich essence of blackberry, violet and spice. This wine comes from our oldest, ultra-low-yield selected block in the winery. Throughout the growing season, vines are manually pruned to control bud count. During harvest, our experienced team hand-sorts every bunch, removing any imperfect berries.Once delivered to the cellar, grapes undergo gentle manual crushing without pumping, preserving the primary fruit aromas and fine tannin texture to the fullest. After fermentation, the wine is transferred into French oak barrels (35% new oak) for a full 18 months of maturation. Racking is carried out every three months, allowing slow interaction between lees and oxygen to build complex notes of baking spice and cedar.
Wine Characteristics
Full-bodied, with aromas of blackberry, dark plum, black pepper, spice and subtle chocolate. This classic South Australian Shiraz delivers rich fruit flavours and soft tannins. It pairs beautifully with mildly spicy cuisine and offers broader food compatibility than Cabernet Sauvignon.
Pairing Principles
Rich fruit flavours with peppery spice notes. Ideal for barbecues, heavy sauces and spiced dishes.
